๐ธ UKAP Weekly Theme Challenge - Week 2 - Winter in Focus
It's another Monday, and that means it's another weekly challenge! Winter is full of small, easily overlooked moments.
This theme is about slowing down and focusing on the finer details that define the season, rather than wide landscapes or big scenes. But at the end of the day, it's your interpretation of the theme that counts.
Ideas & inspiration:
-
❄️ Frost, ice patterns, frozen puddles, breath in the cold air.
-
๐ Textures: bark, dead leaves, snow-dusted surfaces, weathered wood.
-
๐งค Seasonal objects: gloves, scarves, mugs, condensation on windows.
-
๐ฟ Nature up close: bare branches, berries, moss, lichen.
-
๐️ Urban winter: grit, salt stains, wet pavements, reflections.
Photography tips:
-
Get closer than usual. Details often work best when they fill the frame.
-
Look for texture and contrast, especially between light and dark.
-
Soft, overcast light is your friend in winter. Use it.
-
Consider shooting in black and white to emphasise form and texture.
As always:
-
๐ท Any camera is welcome. Smartphones very much so!
-
๐ฌ๐ง Photos should be taken in the UK (or by UK-based members).
-
๐ Feel free to share a short caption about your creation, or even a story of your thought process when making your photo.
We’re looking forward to seeing your wintry creations. ❄️๐ค
