📷 Weekly Challenge
Week 7 - MOTION
Hello everyone! Apologies for the late posting of this week's theme, I'm in the process of moving houses and it's been hectic to say the least!
This week's theme is Motion. Photography often freezes a moment in time, but this theme is about movement. Motion can be fast or slow, controlled or chaotic. The key is deciding whether you want to freeze it sharply or show it flowing through the frame.
Ideas & inspiration:
- 🚗 Moving traffic, cyclists, trains, or buses.
- 🏃 People running, walking, dancing, or working.
- 🌊 Water in motion: rivers, waves, rain, waterfalls.
- 🌬️ Wind in trees, clothing, hair, or smoke.
- 🎡 Fairgrounds, sports, or urban rush hour scenes.
Photography tips:
- Decide your intention first: freeze the action or blur it?
- Use a faster shutter speed to stop motion cleanly.
- Use a slower shutter speed to create motion blur or light trails.
- Try panning with your subject to keep it sharp while the background blurs.
- Stabilise your camera if using longer exposures.
Motion adds energy to an image. It can create tension, drama, or calm depending on how you handle it. Think about what the movement is saying.
